Many of us lash lovers dream of full long lashes of our own. There is just something about long lashes that has that “je ne sais quoi” appeal. Women yearn for that fringe of black that exaggerates the eye and gives them back a bright and youthful look. But, for too long, the only options have been to pile on mascara, get eyelash extensions, or fight with false lashes.
Simple methods to enhance and create long and lush eyelashes include the use of Latisse, a lash primer, an eyelash curler, mascara, and eye makeup remover.
So with all this lash hype recently bombarding the media, what’s one to do? What methods actually work to enhance the lashes or even, gasp … grow them longer? And, conversely, what is a complete waste of time and money for true lash envy?
Methods to Enhance Eyelashes
Latisse
Latisse is a prescription treatment that you will need to purchase from your dermatologist or doctor. Developed initially for cancer patients to re-grow eyebrows, this treatment guarantees that you will have longer, darker, and thicker lashed within six weeks of treatment. It’s very easy to use. Just apply a thin coat along your lash base at night and wake up to beautiful lashes. Many doctors’ offices carry it now, due to its popularity, and all you have to do is request a prescription. Now, it’s not designed to be used for everyone. It was created for those of us with short lashes that don’t protect the eyes. So, if your doc isn’t excited about prescribing it, don’t get too upset. Hopefully soon, it will be sold over the counter or available to everyone.
Lash primer
Lash primer is the foundation for your lashes. It thickens and softens, stretches and prepares the lashes to be curled and coated. Do not skip this step if you want the true “wow factor” for natural lashes.
Eyelash curler
Yes, this is so old school, but it works! You don’t have to buy the newfangled heated curlers, even the cheap ones work pretty well. The truth is that curled lashes simply look better. Just make sure to curl them before you apply your mascara.
Keep in mind when you’re using an eyelash curler, you don’t need to curl them multiple times.
Mascara
Mascara is the icing on the cake. If you have used the methods above, then the amount of money you spend on mascara will not matter as much, because your lashes will already be so fabulous and long. One of my personal favorite mascara is Farmasi 3d. They just seem to have the secret ingredient that separates them from the pack.
Eye makeup remover
The number one factor in eye makeup remover is not price, it is just actually using it! Find a gentle formula that doesn’t irritate your skin and make sure to use soft cotton balls so you don’t aggravate the delicate eye zone. Cleanse your face at night, remove all makeup and moisturize, then go back to step one! Using harsh makeup removers can cause lash damage.
Also, remember to wash your eyes delicately and do not scrub. You don’t want to damage or break your natural lashes

Drugstore lash enhancers
The FDA removed the good stuff from drugstores and now it is only sold by doctors. Do not fall for a $60 version of Latisse. It is a scam.
