How Often Should I Get A Manicure And Pedicure?

pedicure

Having baby soft hands and feet and well-shaped nails is one luxury that many of us can’t resist. If you are like me, I wouldn’t mind treating my hands and feet to TLC every day, but then as much as I crave for such, it wouldn’t be feasible to do so.

Therefore, let’s get realistic.

No one has the time and money (well, maybe a few rich ones) to get a manicure and pedicure every day. And when you think of the 2 hours you spend getting one, you would have a rethink making the TLC a daily one.

What determines how often I get a mani-pedi?

How often you get a manicure and pedicure really depends on what you are involved in during the day. Someone that spends time in the salon daily and another person that spends the day in front of the TV binge-eating for the better part of it will not have the same nail care needs.

Here are some questions I need you to answer before we move on:

  • Do you work with your hands like shoveling the snow, or do you spend your day in front of the computer all day?
  • Do you make your food by yourself or go for takeout?
  • Are you into sports or do you spend your day following up on the latest TV series?
  • Do you get involved in bad nail habits like picking and biting your fingernails?
  • Are you someone who cares a lot about looking good including having soft hands and feet?
  • Are you a career woman who has to ensure her nails are always looking their best?
  • Do you prefer natural nails or long and artificial ones?

Your answer to these questions will help you determine how often you should get a mani-pedi. But to make it easier for you, the following will guide you on how often you should go for it.

Weekly

If you are always active, always on the go, cook most of the time and constantly text with your phone, then your nails need some TLC at least once a week. All that chomping on nails and washing dishes will not allow you enjoy the hours you spent at the salon getting a manicure. It’s about time you invested in a good dishwasher or have your partner or roomie take on that role. And speaking of manicure and pedicure, make sure they apply cuticle oil on your nails while at it.

Fortnightly

If you are the type that loves the outdoor life without having to use your hands very often like laying on the beach, checking out the latest restaurant, or just relaxing with a good book, then you can make do with a fortnightly manicure and pedicure. Just make sure you get an attractive nail polish shade while at it.

Monthly

You don’t really care about how your nails or hands look, or you have a dishwasher and order mostly takeouts. You don’t mind doing your nails yourself. If you fall within this category, then you can comfortably do your nails once a month.

I generally get my nails done monthly. At that time I need a fillin and my feet are screaming for fresh polish and TLC.
