How To Draw Cat Eye Makeup Like A Pro

It’s said that the eye is the window to the soul. And have you noticed that when it comes to makeup, the eyes tend to speak volumes?

On days that you are not up for much makeup but still want to have that intriguing look, just glam up your eyes with the winged eye makeup and have eyes turning in your direction.

Come to think of it, the cat eye makeup didn’t start today. It dates back to the 1920s with the likes of Starlet Josephine Baker which she paired up with lush lashes. Ever since, the makeup industry, celebrities and just about anyone who values beauty can’t seem to do without it.

If you love the winged eye makeup but just haven’t succeeded in getting it right, don’t worry, after reading this, you will learn some beauty hacks to have you perfecting it in no time.

Here are 5 tips to get you started:

Eye primer – you know how important it is that you prime your face before applying foundation. Same thing applies to your eyes. If you don’t want that cat eye makeup wearing off in a few hours make sure you apply eye primer. Not only will it help your winged eye makeup last longer but also make it easy to apply.

Start with eye pencil – it’s easier to clean up the mistake you made with an eye pencil than with liquid eyeliner, especially when your hands are not steady, yet. When you have gotten the line right, you can then fill it out with a gel, liquid or permanent eyeliner. No one can tell you tried several times before getting it. Genius, right? I know.

Get a tape or a business card – wondering what business card and tape has got to do with makeup? Alright, using either of the two will guide you on how to draw the line. Start by placing the tape or business card slightly tilted upward at the corner of your outer eye. Then with your eyeliner or pencil, line your pencil starting from the middle of your lash line towards the outward direction. You can take the line as far as you feel comfortable with. Remove the tape or card and you will end up with a perfect cat eye look.

Alternate eyes – when starting out newly, you will find that alternating the eyes as you draw your line helps you achieve a better look. Don’t wait until you are through with drawing one eye before moving to the other. Simultaneously do whatever you did on the right eye to the left until you are done with both of them.

Make cotton swab your new friend – no one started out as a pro. If along the line you tried several times and still didn’t get it, don’t be sad. Clean up the mistake with a cotton swab and try again. When you finally get it right, I promise you’ll be too excited to remember how many times you tried and failed.
