How To Fix Frizzy Hair Perfectly
We all have at some point experienced frizzy hair in our lives. There is no common hair challenge that many girls face on a daily basis like this issue. I have had those days when I’m rushing off to an important appointment and then on my way to the venue, decided to take a look at a store window and what stares back at me is a free-flying lion’s mane.
My daughter has natural tight curls that can turn into a frizzy disaster in the heat and rain. She can go from perfect hair to looking like she has not brushed her hair in a week in a matter of minutes. So, I get that learning how to fix frizzy hair is one thing many ladies are interested in.
What causes frizzy hair in the first place?
The simple answer to this question is that your hair gets frizzy when it lacks moisture or when there are excess moisture and humidity in the air. People with really damaged hair also tend to have frizzy hair than others. If the weather is dry and you step out with hair that is not well moisturized, the environment will take even the little you have on and leave you with unwanted frizz. Badly damaged hair can also become frizzy.
Naturally wavy or curly hair also frizzes easily since they dry out easily when exposed to moisture. But I’ll share some tips to help you manage and possibly prevent the annoying frizz.
1. Avoid shampoos with sulfate
Shampoos with sulfate will strip your hair of more moisture and cause it to frizz easily. Instead, choose the ones with glycerin (the more concentrated the better). Glycerin fights off frizz because it penetrates your hair and provides it with moisture. And, it does a good job of absorbing the extra moisture that is in the air.
2. Befriend a good conditioner
Many people judiciously shampoo their hair but fail to condition it as often as they shampoo. Shampooing your hair strips it of natural oils and exposes it to the moisture in the environment. Always use a good conditioner and apply it generously to your hair, especially your cuticles to prevent them from opening up to the harsh and dry weather. When thinking of how to fix frizzy hair, look out for conditioners with glycerin, Shea butter, and other good oils. Avoid getting the conditioner too close to your scalp to prevent oiliness. Another important tip; don’t wait until you shampoo your hair before applying the conditioner. Conditioners contain some surfactant found in shampoos and so can clean your hair too. Do this every 2 to 3 days and wash out. You will notice that your hair doesn’t frizz that much when you begin using a good conditioner.
